BioBeren deMotier has written humor and social commentary about life as a lesbian mom for Curve, Greenlight.com, And Baby, Proud Parenting Magazine, Prideparenting.com, eHow.com, on her Web site, www.berendemotier.com, and for newspapers across the country. She contributed to The Complete Lesbian & Gay Parenting Guide by Ari Istar Lev, published by Penguin in 2004.
Her narrative non-fiction account of getting married in Multnomah County, The Brides of March: Memoir of a Same-Sex Marriage, comes out this spring. Stay tuned for the publication date, or check her website for a sneak peek.
When she’s not up to her elbows in dishes, driving kids across town, playing Candy Land with her four year-old or trying to find something funny to write about the flu, she paints portraits of dogs. She lives in a cozy, liberal enclave of Portland, Oregon, with her spouse of twenty years, their three children and a Labrador.
